Training with Barking Mad

We train our dogs using the Alpha dog theory therefore allowing the dog to work in its natural way, being subordinate in the pack...YOUR PACK!

Our training consists of repetition and consistency; training is for both dogs and handlers. We at BM do NOT look at the breed; we look at the dog regardless as to what "coat" its wearing.

Barking Mad Dog Training Club was founded over 20 years ago in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk by Steve Telfer. A career soldier, Steve has been working with dogs of all types for over 25 years and is a qualified instructor with the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers. Steve also holds qualifications in Dog Agility Instruction and as an Agilty Judge.

Working alongside Steve at Barking Mad is Julian Eagles. Julian brings over 10 years of dog training experience to Barking Mad and he too is a qualified instructor with the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers.

Our Instructors are:

Ashley - Has been training along side Steve for over 15years. She has successfully help train a wide variety of dogs from aggressive to shy nervous dogs. Her pack consists of 3 staffies and a French bull dog.

Lizzie - Has been with us for over 3 years. She has a pack of 12 dogs! Consisting of huskies, Alaskan malamutes, Canadian Eskimos dogs and 2 black labs.

Claire - Has been with us for over 6 years, as well as assisting with classes she doubles up as our receptionist and is our 1st port of call when you attend the club. She has a working cocker spaniel.

Training your dog at Barking Mad is a fun and enjoyable experience for you and your dog. We use non-violent techniques based around positive reinforcement and praise.
